El Malecon is known as Mexico’s most beautiful boardwalk. This mile-long oceanfront boardwalk follows the beach and main street in downtown Puerto Vallarta. The boardwalk begins at Hotel Rosita, the first hotel built in Vallarta in the 1940s. El Malecon is lined with boutiques, shops, markets, cafes, bars and restaurants, all offering spectacular views of Banderas Bay. As you stroll down the boardwalk, keep your eyes open for Puerto Vallarta’s famous sculptures and landmarks, such as the Virgin of Guadalupe Church. The boardwalk ends at Los Arcos, an open-air theater. The amphitheater offers free performances every night, street venders, native foods and artisans.
