We are a family that enjoys some luxury on our trips, but we are also willing to rough it sometimes in order to see and do unique and interesting things. We try to pack each trip to the max, with a combination of educational and fun activities that the whole family will enjoy. We are fairly adventurous and we have been known to wander off the beaten path at times, and we enjoy being active and finding scenic nature spots as well as the top tourist attractions in an area. Description: Gulfloss Waterfall, which translates into Golden Falls, is one of the most popular waterfall attractions in Iceland and it is considered the most beautiful out of all the falls in this country. The waterfall looks like it contains golden water when the sunlight and other conditions are just right, and this color is caused by sediment that the glacier water contains. The popular Golden Circle tour in Iceland includes the Gulfoss Waterfall.
Our Experiences: We were very impressed with our stop at the Gulfoss Waterfall, and our entire family loved this place. The waterfall itself was spectacular, even if the conditions were not right for water that appeared golden. In some spots it looked like the river completely disappeared, and it was easy to see why this is the most popular waterfall in Iceland. This is highly recommended, especially for families who enjoy being outdoors and natural formations.
Description: The geysers of Haukadalur are world famous, and they attract many people who come to Iceland for a visit. The Haukadalur geothermal field contains many different geysers, and these have been called some of the best in the entire world. Thermal springs, geysers, and other geothermal field features can be found in the area, and the geysers located here are a top attraction. Geysir, which is the most well known and impressive out of all the geysers found in Iceland, is located here along with many other geysers of varying sizes.
Our Experiences: The geysers of Haukadalur were an incredible experience for our family, and everyone was thrilled to see these unusual natural features. Some of the geysers here were dormant but others were very active, and there were also a number of hot springs and thermal mud pits in the area as well. This was a unique stop that would appeal to almost anyone, and it was a huge hit with all of us and a stop that we will remember.
