The winter season is beloved the world over as a magical period, where cold and quiet bide their time leading up to the rebirth of spring. All over, different areas and peoples pay homage to the season with unique local festivities that celebrate winter rather than hide from it. Take your family along to enjoy all the fun of snow and ice, as well as warming up after them!
Just north of Milwaukee, Cedarburg runs a winter event not to be missed. The Winter Festival is about to enter its 41st year of providing family fun for an action packed weekend. Enjoy arts & crafts, food & drink, as well as a lot of wholesome family fun and activities to engage children of all ages.
This year it runs from February 21st – February 22nd, 2015
The festival runs for one weekend, 8 AM – 10 PM on Saturday, and 8 AM – 4 PM on Sunday. Don’t let the short time table throw you, as this Wisconsin celebration packs a ton of fun into a short time. You’ll find camel rides, a parade, an Alaskan Malamute dog-pulling contest, costumed bed races on ice, barrel racing, tractor-drawn hay rides and, if you sign-up, you can tee off with the “Ice-Burg Open Golf Tournament” in Cedar Creek Park. That’s just a sampling! There is also a chili cook-off and an all-you-can-eat pancake breakfast, beer and wine tasting for adults, and make-and-take craft projects for kids. There is so much to do that you won’t even have a chance to feel cold as you run from one exciting activity to the next.
