Make a splash at Ocho Rios’ signature attraction and one of Jamaica’s national treasures. Dunn’s River Falls is a series of waterfalls that cascade over layers of stone steps. At 180 feet high and 600 feet long, the waterfalls are terraced like a giant natural staircase. Dunn’s River is one of the few rivers in the world that flows directly into the Caribbean Sea. Visitors can climb up the steps and cool off in one of the several lagoons or pools along the way. The climb can be slippery and difficult, so many people make a hand-holding human chain led by a guide to make it easier. For those who don’t wish to climb the steps, they can view the falls from the terraces above. Make your trip to Jamaica a memorable one by visiting this famous waterfall.

Take a trip to one of Jamaica’s most celebrated historical landmarks. Built in 1881, the Devon House Mansion was the residence of George Stiebel, Jamaica’s first black millionaire. The elaborate architecture and 11 acres of lush lawns offer a strong contrast to the hustle and bustle of the city. The mansion is beautifully furnished with a collection of Jamaican, Caribbean, English and French antiques from 1860-1870. The spectacular ballroom boasts the original English chandelier that George Stiebel purchased. The Wedgwood style ceiling is also original to the house. The other buildings on the property are now home to some of Jamaica’s finest restaurants. Make sure to stop by the Devon House ice cream shop, the most popular store at the Devon House and a household name across Jamaica.
No trip to Jamaica is complete without visiting Dolphin Cove. The whole family will be swimming with dolphins, sharks and stingrays in a beautiful natural cove surrounded by 5 acres of lush tropical rainforest. There are different levels of interaction with the marine life. Dolphin Encounter, which is recommended for young children and non-swimmers, includes a half hour interaction with dolphins in knee high water. Swim with one dolphin in deep water in the Dolphin Swim program. Interact with two dolphins while swimming in the deep in the Ultimate Swim program, where they may give you a dorsal pull or a foot push through the water. Get up close with sharks during the Shark Encounter program, where you will be accompanied by shark trainers. Each of the encounters include mini boat rides, glass bottom kayaking, watching shark shows, exploring the nature trail, and petting and snorkeling with stingrays. See for yourself why Dolphin Cove is Jamaica’s number one marine attraction.
