Enter the world of tropical plants at the 83-acre Fairchild Tropical Botanical Garden. The garden is filled with tropical palms, cycads, flowering trees and vines. The Wings of the Tropics exhibit features hundreds of spectacular butterflies year-round. With some of the world’s most tropical exotic fruit, the Tropical Fruit Pavilion will have your mouth watering. There are several water gardens including a tranquil pool, waterfall, fountains and ponds. The Art & Sculpture garden features contemporary art exhibitions by well known artists and musicians. Stop by the gift shop for botanical and horticultural books, unique gifts, children’s toys, jewelry, apparel and more. Visit the garden with an appetite because there are two delicious dining options. The Glasshouse Cafe offers delicious tropical fare and beautiful views of the butterfly exhibit. The Lakeside Cafe offers lighter on-the-go options and stunning lakeside seating. The whole family will enjoy this tropical oasis.

Visitors of all ages will have a wild time at Jungle Island. Come face to face with a variety of exotic reptiles, birds, tigers, lions, leopards and other jungle residents. Jungle Island offers three entertaining shows featuring some of the wildest animals from around the world. The Winged Wonders show features some of the most beautiful and dangerous birds from around the globe. Wild Encounter is an unbelieveable interaction with the rarest big cats you’ve ever seen. Visitors will meet wild animals from the animal kingdom in the Wild Adventures in the Serpentarium show, featuring African crested porcupines, alligators, snapping turtles and many other fascinating creatures.

Escape the city and relax in Florida’s largest urban park. Located on Biscayne Bay, the 1,043-acre Oleta River Park is best known for its miles of off-road bicycling trails, ranging from easy trails to challenging trails. The park offers a variety of recreational opportunities, including canoeing, kayaking, fishing, picnicking, swimming, camping and many other activities the whole family will enjoy. Picnic tables and grills are available and pavilions can be rented for a fee. For overnight visits, the park has rustic, air-conditioned cabins for camping.
