Months Visited: August
We try to spend time with a variety of activities and stops when we travel. Fun is important, but we also include educational and historic spots whenever p[possible as well. We like to have adventures full of excitement and we are willing to get off the beaten path to do this. We also like to include days at the beach and other relaxing activities on each trip. We are an active family who enjoys being outdoors, and we want each day to be packed full of new sights and experiences. Our children at the time of this itinerary: 3 children-Boy age 17 years, Boy age 12 years, Boy age 10 years.
Description: La Jolla beach is one of the popular California beaches that tourists and residents in the area flock to. The beach itself is roughly one mile long and it offers a wide range of activities along with spectacular views. Swimming, surfing, and scuba diving are all top activities here, along with laying on the beach enjoying the sun and gorgeous California weather. This beach area is situated close to the underwater ecological preserve, and it is common to find beginner classes in scuba diving being held at La Jolla. The waves can be very gentle during the summer months so this area can be ideal for families and those who are not expert ocean swimmers. It is illegal to fish, camp, smoke, bring alcohol, bring glass containers, or allow animals on the beach. Visitors are also prohibited from taking any items from the area.
Our Experiences: La Jolla is a very nice beach, with warm sand that is soft and plenty to see and do. The water in this area was very clear and warm, and the waves were not as big or intimidating as they were on some of the other beaches that we visited in California. After playing in the sand and frolicking in the water the kids were tired, and the adults enjoyed these activities as well. There were a number of surfers while we were here and they were fascinating to watch. Our family recommends this beach with a thumbs up.
Description: La Jolla offers much more than just sun, sand, and surf. This city is also rich in culture, and there are many concerts held each year by the bay for visitors and tourists. During the winter months outdoor concerts are rare but during the spring and summer these are held frequently. There is a variety of musical types and performers that can be scheduled, and each venue will have specific requirements and costs.
Our Experiences: After a visit to La Jolla, one of the popular California beaches in the area, we were ready for something a little more relaxing. We decided to take a rest and enjoy a concert by the bay. This was a nice way to rest and enjoy the culture of the area. This was not a top spot for the kids, other spots were more fun and exciting. but even they were more than ready to sit down for a little while. The music was beautiful and our family enjoyed the concert.
