The Houston Museum of Natural Science houses a variety of exhibits that examine astronomy, paleontology, chemistry, Texas wildlife and much more. Explore the ancient Egyptian civilization, including mummification, Hieroglyphics, and natural resources at the Hall of Ancient Egypt. Embark on a prehistoric safari at the Morian Hall of Paleontology, which features ancient skeletons of prehistoric beasts set up in action chasing and eating as they would have been during that time. The Cullen Hall of Gems & Minerals houses over 450 beautifully crystallized mineral specimens, including an impressive blue topaz crystal weighing more than 2,000 carats. Create an earthquake, feel a cloud and watch a tornado form at the Earth Forum exhibit. The Burke Baker Planetarium presents a variety of science and astronomy shows for visitors of all ages. Walk through a living butterfly habitat at the three-story Cockrell Butterfly Center filled with tropical plants, vibrant butterflies and some of the world’s largest and weirdest arthropods. This fascinating museum proves that learning can be fun.

The whole family will have a wild time at the Houston Zoo. With over 6,000 animals from more than 900 species, it is clear as to why this zoo is the tenth most visited zoo in the United States. Take a journey through Africa without leaving Texas. The African Forest features rhinos, giraffes, zebras, ostriches and a chimpanzee study site with a large glass wall for observation. Explore a flooded Amazon forest filled with stingrays, catfish, piranhas, turtles, eels and more at Kipp Aquarium. The Bird Habitat is one of the largest collections in any U.S. zoo, featuring over 800 feathered friends from around the world. Come face to face with ferocious lions, grizzly bears, tigers, jaguars, and many other carnivores at the Carnivores Exhibit. Children can unleash their wild side at the Children’s Zoo, where they can explore a bat cave, interact with barnyard animals and watch an entertaining show at the Butterfly Pavilion.

The Kemah Boardwalk is an entertainment destination for Texas natives and visitors alike. The boardwalk runs entirely along the shores of Galveston Bay and Clear Lake, providing spectacular views and endless photo opportunities. The boardwalk is home to more than 10 restaurants, a variety of amusement rides, carnival games and a wide selection of specialty shops. The Boardwalk Beast is a 25-minute thrilling boat ride that cruises up to 40 MPH into Galveston Bay. The exhilarating Boardwalk Bullet is a wooden roller coaster with 42 track crossovers, the highest number of crossovers ever designed into a wooden coaster.
