Description: Surfing the South shore offers surf conditions that are less intimidating and more forgiving than the North or East shore, perfect for those without a lot of skill and experience on the waves. There are a number of services along the beach that offer lessons in surfing and other water sports, as well as rental businesses where visitors can rent or buy equipment for these activities. Professionals will help surfers learn how to ride the waves and stay safe, and lessons are available at many levels from beginner to advanced.
Our Experiences: We chose a local surf instructor for our surf lessons while in Hawaii. We started in the morning and continued until the early afternoon. The waves are incredible yet not overpowering, and the adults had just as much fun as the kids. Our instructor helped us stay away from the crowds, and helped ensure that everyone had a blast in the water. The kids had plenty of opportunities to get rid of their excess energy, and the beach is full of people who were watching the sessions or frolicking in the water closer to shore. This is highly recommended by all ages, our kids want to come back again if we are in the area in the future.
Description: Whether you are searching for designer duds, authentic Hawaiian musical instruments, or even souvenirs for family members and friends back home the shopping in the area is extensive. Browse boutiques with an eclectic feel, visit shops that offer original and unique items, and take advantage of the many stores that offer something for everyone. There are also restaurants and other attractions scattered through the area as well. This is a paradise for anyone who enjoys shopping.
Our Experiences: After spending time in the surf the entire family was ready to relax a little, so we decided to explore the shops and stores in the area. The kids had a lot of fun looking at all the items for sale, and the adults enjoyed some leisurely time to explore and take a break from more strenuous activities. There are stores and items for sale that can fit in almost any budget, and our family greatly enjoyed window shopping and looking at some of the more unusual things offered for sale.
