Month Visited: December
We like adventure and excitement, trying new things and visiting new places even if they are out of the way. We like experiences that are unique, as well as the usual tourist attractions and top spots for visitors. We are not afraid to go off the usual path or find areas and activities that are unusual or usually overlooked. We are very active, and our children are very energetic. Each day that we spend in a place is packed full, so that we do not waste a moment and get the most out of each trip that we take. We try to use a mix of fun and exciting activities along with stops that are educational or historic. Our children at the time of this itinerary: 4 children-Boy age 23 years, Boy age 21 years, Girl age 17 years, Boy age 13 years.

Description: Cage diving with the Great White Shark is an experience that is both thrilling and unforgettable. The Great White Shark is the master of the seas, and seeing these creatures up close from the safety of the diving cage is a one of a kind experience that few people get. The dive master will ensure that all of the safety procedures are followed, and you will get the chance to look Great White sharks in the eye while being protected by the steel cage. Those on the boat also get to see numerous Great White Sharks which are circling in the water. This is a must for anyone who likes excitement with a sense of danger while staying safe., and these encounters can be captured in photographs and on video.
Our Experiences: This stop was both thrilling and terrifying at the same time. We were close enough to the sharks to actually touch them, and the dive master of the boat was very helpful. While in the cage the dive master alerted us to the direction that the shark was headed to the cage from so there were no surprises, and the experience was one that we all still remember and talk about today. We were close enough to see the razor sharp teeth and massive jaws of these dangerous sea creatures, and as parents we appreciated the safety precautions taken. This stop may not be a good choice for small children or for anyone who is timid or who scares easily. Anyone with heart problems or certain other medical conditions may also want to skip this activity. Our kids recommend this highly though, and it was an incredible experience. There were photos and video of our Great White encounters which were available for sale, providing mementos of our time with these sharks.
Admission: Starting at R250 per person
Description: Cape Town offers something for everyone, and sea kayaking is a very popular activity for tourists and locals both. Whether you stay in False Bay or head out to the open ocean you will enjoy scenic vistas, a wide variety of marine animals, and varying levels of excitement and energy requirements. You can take a leisurely ride in the calm waters of False Bay during optimal weather or you can brave the open sea in rough weather for a thrilling adventure full of excitement and a little danger. Penguins, whales, and other marine life may be spotted during your trip.
Our Experiences: We liked this stop a lot, and the kids were very excited to view penguins on the shore of Boulder’s Beach and watch the dolphins frolic in the sea. This trip is not a great idea for anyone who is not in decent physical shape though, and small children may find this experience frightening. We had a lot of fun and saw some incredible sights, making this one of the highlights of our time in Cape Town. There are a number of companies that offer kayak rentals or even guided sea kayaking tours to choose from. This activity is highly recommended by everyone in our family, it was very memorable.
