Denver Zoo was the first zoo in the United States to use naturalistic zoo enclosures rather than barred cages. Toyota Elephant Passage is the largest and most complex elephant habitats in North America. It features two miles of interconnected trails on 10 acres of terrain and houses Asian elephants, rhinos, leopards and many others. Discover Africa at the Predator Ridge exhibit where you will see spectacular African lions, African wild dogs and spotted hyenas. Watch playful gorillas, orangutans, and other tree-dwelling monkeys at Primate Panorama. Visitors will enjoy watching polar bears, sea lions and otters swim around the Northern Shores exhibit and grizzly bears and brown bears roam at eye level at Bear Mountain, a national historic landmark. With a large variety of exquisite animals, Denver Zoo has something for everyone.

Through exciting interactive exhibits, Denver Museum of Nature & Science teaches visitors about the natural history of Colorado, our Earth and the universe as a whole. Travel back 3.5 billion years ago at the Prehistoric Journey exhibit, where you can examine ancient plants, see the rise of mammals and the dawn of humans and observe scientists as they study fossils. Explore the universe at Space Odyssey, a hands-on exhibit where you can investigate cosmos and planets. Wildlife Exhibits recreate more than 90 wildlife and habitat scenes that illustrate Earth’s diversity. Through activities, experimentation and open-ended play, children will have a blast learning basic concepts in physical science, life science, math and human culture at Discovery Zone. The Museum of Nature and Science proves that learning can be fun.

Washington Park in Denver is a lovely place to wind down a busy day. This 160 acre public area has lush green areas, a number of walking and biking trails and is a great place for dogs. Visitors note that the canine population is well behaved and sociable, which will delight younger children. There are a number of great cafes, restaurants and food stands lining the outer edges of the park, making it ideal for grabbing a quick bite and lounging in one of the park’s picnic areas to eat under bright Denver skies. This park was stellar enough to be designated one of the “Great Public Spaces in America” by the American Planning Association in 2012. Your family is sure to love it.
