Escape the city and enjoy all nature has to offer at Dallas Arboretum and Botanical Garden. With over 66 acres of manicured grounds on the southeastern shore of White Rock Lake, the arboretum provides breathtaking views for visitors year-round. There are 19 named gardens, all with different plants and flowers but all equally beautiful. The 8-acre Rory Meyers Children’s Adventure Garden was made specifically to connect children with nature. For a small fee, young visitors will enjoy exploring and learning throughout the various galleries, each designed to be age-specific. If visiting the gardens at night, visitors can view downtown Dallas with the skyscraper lights reflecting upon the water.

Unleash your wild side at the Dallas World Aquarium and zoo. Walk through a 20,000 gallon tunnel exhibit which is home to hundreds of Indo-Pacific fish, crabs, seadragons and jellyfish. The enormous eight-story Mundo Maya exhibit features plants and animals prevalent in Mayan folklore and a 400,000 gallon walk-through cenote filled with sharks, stingrays and sea turtles of the Yucatan Peninsula. The Orinoco Secrets of the River exhibit is seven-stories high, featuring the unique biodiversity of the South American rainforest ecosystem. The outdoor South Africa exhibit houses penguins and storks year-round and is home to unique reptiles and amphibians from Madagascar during the summer months.
