The Best Family Winter Trips for 2015
Winter is an amazing season for family travel: it provides the opportunity to choose between diving into winter weather with a snowy destination, or escaping the cold on a sunny beach. It all depends on your preference. There are a wealth of winter holidays and festivals, both religious and secular, all over the world that offer your family a chance to immerse yourselves in another culture’s holiday festivities. Also, it doesn’t hurt that the kids get some time off from school!
National Geographic has assembled their “Best Winter Trips for 2015” and we wanted to share it with you. The list has a great variety, from warm to cold weather destinations, active to relaxing. You’ll find all the things we just mentioned and more, with most if not all of the destinations and experiences being suitable for families travelling with children.
Some highlights include:
A reindeer-drawn sleigh ride safari in Lapland, Finland
An off-road tour through Arikok National Park in Aruba
The chance to “ski and soak” in a traditional hot spring village in Nozawa Onsen, Japan
Or enjoy the beach at Table Mountain National Park in Cape Town, South Africa
The list has a number of “you’d never have thought about that” ideas to inspire your family to think outside the box when it comes to winter vacations. Take a look and see what excites you, as you challenge your family to try something different and create unique memories together. Also remember to check back with us as we have itineraries for a number of the cities and areas on the list, as well as some inspiration of our own!
